POST OF ENGLISH TRAINER

Applications are invited for above mentioned position on an assignment basis under the ELTA.ELSE grant of the Department of Commerce and Finance Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

 The ELTA.ELSE grant is funded by the World Bank under its Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation in Sri Lanka and the assignment as an   English Trainer is only for 08 months on fulltime basis. The grant will offer a maximum salary of Rs 75,000.00 all-inclusive per month for the successful candidate.  

Job Profile

The Trainer shall be required to discharge duties as per section 05 of the Terms of Reference as follows.

  1. Develop action plan and carry-out the Academic Writing course module for 3rd and 4th years students developed by the Consultant recruited by the DCFM 
  2. Design action plan for personality and Management Communication module of the 2nd Year students developed by the Consultant recruited by the DCFM
  3. Train the selected staff members delivering these courses in the future.
  4. As per the PAT AHEAD/RA2/ELTAELSE/KLN/FCMS/DCFM/OVAA 22.1 recruited instructor must design and execute the English Language improving activities with students at DCFM. Such as debates, video documentaries, webinars.
  5. As per the PAT AHEAD/RA2/ELTAELSE/KLN/FCMS/DCFM/OVAA 22.2 recruited instructor must design and execute English Speech and Drama competition with students at DCFM.
  6. Proofread and improve the quality of the English of abstracts and articles presented by the students at their annual research symposium
  7. The selected trainer shall complete the given tasks under the program within the period given

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A(Hons) in English 1st class or 2nd upper degree holder from any national university is eligible for this assignment.
  • Completed or following master’s relates to English language teaching is an advantage.
  • IELTS or any other reputed qualifications acceptable to the department.
  • Candidate must have at least two (02) year experience in the academic field (especially national university).
