The Department of Western Classical Culture and Christian Culture of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Kelaniya ceremonially inaugurated the 13th Batch of Master of Christian Studies Degree Program on 09 May 2026 at the university premises. The event marked the commencement of another academic journey dedicated to the advancement of Christian studies and interdisciplinary humanities education.

Senior Lecturer Dr Kapugollewe Anandakiththi Thero, the Head of the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, has authored a new academic book titled ‘Phonology and Morphology of Modern Marathi. The book was formally presented to Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on Thursday, 02 April 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

Nine students from the Japanese Unit of the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya received prestigious scholarships to pursue their studies in Japan for one year. These scholarships provide students with valuable opportunities to improve their Japanese language proficiency, experience Japanese culture, and broaden their academic knowledge.
