A ceremony symbolizing the awarding of educational scholarships to first-year undergraduates by the Koliya Bandara EducationaI Trust Fund, was held on April 10, 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office of the University of Kelaniya. The event took place under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
A series of religious observances, including an Aloka Puja, Bodhi Puja, all-night Pirith chanting, and a morning alms-giving, were meritoriously held on April 10 and 11, 2025, at the University of Kelaniya. These events, organized by the Buddhist Students' Association in collaboration with the Anyonyadhara Sangamaya, were held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
The Aloka Puja and Bodhi Puja were conducted in front of the university’s Buddhist Shrine, followed by all-night Pirith chanting held at the Entrance Hall of the Faculty of Science on April 10. The Morning Alms-Giving took place on April 11 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Science.
These meritorious acts were held to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year and were aimed at invoking blessings for the nation, the global community, and the university’s academic, non-academic, administrative, and student communities.
The events were graced by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Senior Professor P. A. Paranagama, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Professor Madawa Chandratilake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Dhammila Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmatilake, Registrar; Ms. U. T. M. I. D. Tennakoon, Bursar; Heads of the departments; academic and non-academic staff; and students of the university.
The official launch of the project Suwisal Digital Library, initiated by the Rotaract Club of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the university Library, was successfully held on April 9, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Prof. Małgorzata Porada-Rochoń from the Institute of Economics and Finance, Faculty of Economics, Finance and Management, University of Szczecin, Poland completed her mobility period at the University of Kelaniya within the framework of Erasmus + Staff Mobility for Teaching from the 24th to 28th of March 2025.
