Most Ven. Dr. Thích Nhật Từ Thero, one of the most outstanding contemporary Buddhist scholars, educators, and leaders from Vietnam, was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Literature by the University of Kelaniya at its 154th General Convocation, held on the 17th of November 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

International Multidisciplinary Desk Research Conference 2025 Held at the University of Kelaniya
The International Multidisciplinary Desk Research Conference 2025 (DRC 2025), organised for the third consecutive year by the Library of the University of Kelaniya, was held with resounding success on October 31, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Computing and Technology.
University of Kelaniya proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of its students at the FUA 3-Minute Speech Competition 2025, organized by the Flyway Universities Alliance (FUA) in collaboration with the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) and Beijing Forestry University. The Competition was held virtually on the 16th of October 2025. Competing against talented participants from China, Korea, and Russia, three students from the University of Kelaniya excelled in the final round, bringing international recognition to Sri Lanka.
