University of Kelaniya Claims All-Island Championship at Shantha Bandara Memorial Inter-University Debate Tournament
The “Shantha Bandara Memorial Inter-University Debate Tournament,” organized by the Literary Sub-Committee of the Students’ Union of the University of Peradeniya, was held in conjunction with the Student Literary Festival titled “Māgē dēśaya avadi karanu mäna,” on the 26th of October 2024 at the University of Peradeniya.
The 145th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 18th of October 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.

Senior Prof. N. A. K. P. J. Seneviratne Appointed as the Chairman of UGC, Sri Lanka
Prof. N. A. K. P. J. Seneviratne, Senior Professor of the Department of Chemistry, University of Kelaniya, has been appointed as the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sri Lanka. He assumed duties as the Chairman on the 18th of October 2024, at the UGC premises.
