Felicitation and Farewell Ceremony for Mrs. Thamara Haddinnapola - the Senior Personal Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor

A felicitation and farewell ceremony in honour of Mrs Thamara Haddinnapola, Senior Personal Secretary to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, was held on 20th April 2026 at the Senate Room of the University, marking the conclusion of her distinguished and exemplary career.
Mrs Haddinnapola rendered over 44 years of dedicated service to the University, including more than four decades as a highly respected Senior Personal Secretary. In recognition of her exceptional competence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment, her service was further extended on an assignment basis for an additional four and a half years beyond her retirement.
Throughout her remarkable career, she had the privilege of serving under eleven Vice-Chancellors, earning a reputation as one of the most experienced and accomplished personal secretaries within the higher education sector in Sri Lanka. Her contribution to the efficient functioning of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office and her integrity and steadfast support to university administration have been invaluable.
The event was graced by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Senior Professor Madawa Chandratilake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Dr Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar; members of the administrative staff; and non-academic staff, all of whom gathered to express their deep appreciation for her outstanding service and to wish her well in her future endeavours.
The University of Kelaniya extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Haddinnapola for her decades of loyal service and wishes her a fulfilling and rewarding retirement.
