The University of Kelaniya commemorated World Environment Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration held at the Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT) on the 5th of June 2025, reinforcing its institutional commitment to environmental sustainability. The event aligned with this year’s global theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution,” declared by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) a timely reminder of the global responsibility to eliminate plastic waste and preserve ecological integrity.

The 24th “Chinese Bridge” Competition for Foreign College Students-Sri Lanka Final Round 2025, organized by the University of Kelaniya, was held on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2025 at the University of Kelaniya and Colombo port city sales gallery respectively. Under the theme of “One World – One Family,” the Overall Competition consisted of a Written Test that measures the Chinese Language and Cultural Knowledge, the Speech Contest, and finally the Talent Contest. The Written Test was held on the 2nd of June, while the Speech Contest, Talent Contest and the Awarding Ceremony were held on the 3rd of June.

The official launching ceremony of the USBUS – Mobile American Space (MAS) Project was held on the 30th of May 2025 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya. The event was organized by the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the United States Embassy, Sarvodaya Fusion, and LED KLN.
