Under the University By-laws promulgated for the Inquiry and Redressal of Harassment and Violence in the Working and Learning Environment (Sexual / Gender / General) at the University of Kelaniya, the Centre for Gender Studies initiated a special awareness project to enhance understanding of these by-laws and issues related to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) within the university community.

The Dragon Boat Festival cultural celebration, organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya under the theme “Dragon Boat Festival: Shared Traditions, Shared Friendship,” was successfully held on 18 June 2026 at the K14 Auditorium of the University. The event brought together distinguished guests, academics, students, and members of the Chinese and Sri Lankan communities to celebrate one of China's most significant traditional festivals.

The Graduate Entrepreneur Shark Tank Programme 2026, organized by the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) and the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on 04 June 2026 at the Ananda Patabendige Auditorium of the University. The main objective of the programme was to create a platform that connects emerging entrepreneurs with industry leaders while fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business development.
