A capacity-building workshop for sports journalists, organized by the Communication and Media Unit of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, was held on August 19, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre (SDC), University of Kelaniya. The workshop, conducted under the theme Promoting Sports Literacy and Media Practices for an Advanced Sports Culture, was organized under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha, Director of the Communication and Media Unit.

The International Conference on Child Protection (ICCP 2025), organized by the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the National Child Protection Authority Sri Lanka (NCPA), with support from the European Union through UNICEF Sri Lanka under the Support to Justice Sector (JURE) project, concluded successfully after three days of dynamic discussions, keynote addresses, paper presentations, and stakeholder engagements on July 25,26 and 27, 2025.
