The University of Kelaniya team secured the championship at the Grand Finale of the Fourth Inter-Medical Faculty Forensic Medicine Debating Tournament 2024-2025, which was organized by the Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, together with the Aura-media Club of the Faculty of Medicine. The event was held successfully on March 29, 2025, at the Main Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya.

A distinguished delegation of international allied health professionals, led by renowned occupational therapist and the former president of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, Professor Kit Sinclair, visited the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, on the 25th of February 2025, as part of their educational tour in Sri Lanka. The event, hosted by the Department of Disability Studies, aimed to foster collaboration between Sri Lankan occupational therapy students and the global professional community.

Professor Asita de Silva, Senior Professor and Chair of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, has been recognized as a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society for 2024. This prestigious fellowship has been awarded in recognition of Prof de Silva’s substantial contributions to the disciplines of Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, through his work, publication and presentation of research, leadership, and contribution to the Society
