The Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, officially opened Vistaaraa, a modern, multi-purpose space that reflects the faculty’s vision of continuous growth and transformation, on June 17, 2025, at its premises.
The event was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the invitation of Professor Madawa Chandratilake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The event was also graced by the presence of Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilake, Registrar of the University, and Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, former Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, who contributed to the technical evaluation of the project.
Previously an underused examination hall, 'Vistaaraa' has been reborn as a state-of-the-art lecture theatre, exam centre, and venue for student performances. It features 276 seats, modern energy-efficient lighting and sound systems, and flexible partitions for examinations.
The occasion was attended by academic staff, non-academic staff, and students. Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Indrajith Solangaarachchi and Mr. Gihan Kanishka for their exceptional commitment, and to Alucare Pvt Ltd and their team for their dedication to quality and integrity.
'Vistaaraa' is part of a broader effort to make the best use of existing faculty spaces. But more importantly, it reflects the faculty’s deeper mission: to transform not just buildings, but people.
