Faculty of Medicine Renews its MoU with the Government of Bhutan

The Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, has been admitting students from Bhutan to its MBBS program for over two decades. On the 27th of December 2024,

a three-member delegation from the government of Bhutan, led by Mr. B. Sherpa, Commissioner for Health and Education, visited the University of Kelaniya to formalise the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the next five years.

Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Mr. B. Sherpa signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.

The event was attended by Professor Madawa Chandrathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University of Kelaniya, and representatives from both the Faculty of Medicine and the government of Bhutan. This occasion underscores the steadfast commitment of the University of Kelaniya to fostering international collaboration and enhancing its global academic partnerships.
