Megha Sooriyaarachchi, a 28-year-old alumnus of the University of Kelaniya, was crowned at the Siyatha Mr. World Sri Lanka 2024. The distinguished event took place on the 29th of July 2024, at the Hilton Grand Ballroom in Colombo. Megha, who graduated with a BA Honours in Film and Television, is a multi-talented individual excelling both as an actor and a director.
Anudi Gunasekara, a 24-year-old final year undergraduate from the Department of International Studies of the University of Kelaniya, was crowned Siyatha Miss World Sri Lanka 2024. The prestigious event, Siyatha BIC Twin Lady Miss World Sri Lanka 2024, was held on the 29th of July 2024, at the Hilton Grand Ballroom in Colombo. Anudi will be proudly representing Sri Lanka at the 72nd Miss World Festival next year.
The awards ceremony “Presidential Awards for Inventions – Year 2017 to 2020” was held on the 1st of August 2024 at the BMICH, under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe.
A delegation of fifteen (15) delegates from the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, along with representatives of six (06) major South Korean universities, visited the University of Kelaniya on the 02nd of July 2024. The delegates were received by Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, at the Vice-chancellor’s office.
