The University of Kelaniya is delighted to announce a generous donation of 13 laptops from Haycarb PLC, a company renowned for its commitment to supporting education and empowering students. The laptops were officially distributed during a ceremony held on the 23rd of August 2024, at the Haycarb PLC premises, Colombo 10.
Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of September 2024 at the Senate Room of the university.
Dr. Uditha Gayashan Gunasekara of the Department of Drama, Cinema and Television, University of Kelaniya, was appointed as the Chairman of the Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation. The appointment letter was handed over to the Chairman by Mr. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Mass Media, on the 25th of September 2024, at the Ministry of Mass Media.
Dr. Gunasekara has over two decades of experience in academia, both as a lecturer and as an administrator. He has served as the Unit Head of the Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit, Department of Fine Arts, University of Kelaniya. In addition, he has also served as the Chairman of the National Photographic Art Society, Sri Lanka.
Dr. Gunasekara holds a Ph.D., an MPhil degree, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree from the University of Kelaniya. He also possesses a Diploma in Journalism with a Distinction Pass from the University of Colombo.
Dr. Gunasekara has made numerous contributions to the field of photography through his publications, which include notable books such as Asirimat Sinamāvēdiyā Lesṭar, 50 Pahan Kaṇuwa Pāmula Henri Rājakaruṇā, Śrī Lāṃkēya Chāyārūpa Vaṃśaya, and Alevikaraṇa Sannivēdanaya. He has also authored several insightful articles, including Chāyārūpamaya Puvatpat Kalāva, Chāyārūpa Kalāva Ganikā Vṛuttiyē Yedavīma, Magatoṭa Chāyārūpa Pradarśana, and Kämarāvaṭa Ata Pevīma. His work has played a pivotal role in advancing the photography industry in Sri Lanka.
