Orientation Programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities – Academic Year 2024/2025

The Inauguration Ceremony of the Orientation Programme organized to welcome new undergraduates of the 2024/2025 intake of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, was held on the 18th of May 2026 at the Sri Dharmaloka Hall of the University.
Accordingly, the orientation programme is scheduled to be held from the 18th to 22nd of May 2026.
The event was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
Professor Chaminda Abeysinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Jeewantha Premaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University; Dr. Kasun Fernando, Director of Student Affairs; Dr. K.R.N. Harshani, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs (Women); Rev. Bopeththe Somananda Thero, Deputy Director of Student Affairs (Clergy); Ms. D.P. Tharangani, Senior Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Humanities; Mr. N.N. Kandewatta, Assistant Registrar Faculty of Social Sciences; and academic, administrative, academic support, and non-academic staff of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities also participated in this occasion.
A meeting for the parents of the new undergraduates was also held in parallel with the orientation programme on 17 May 2026 at the Sri Dharmaloka Hall of the University. The meeting was attended by Professor Chaminda Abeysinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Dr. Kasun Fernando, Director of Student Affairs; Dr. K.R.N. Harshani, Deputy Director of Student Affairs (Women); Dr. Saman Herath, Senior Student Counsellor of the Faculty of Social Sciences; and Senior Lecturer Mr. Chinthaka Ranasinghe, Senior Student Counsellor of the Faculty of Humanities.
