Another Session of Senate Awards Held on the 29th of April 2026

Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 29th of April 2026 at the Senate Room of the university.
Researchers whose papers were published in internationally recognized journals, were appreciated and the Senate Awards and Cash Prizes were awarded to the researchers by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, the deans of the faculties, heads of the departments, and members of the Senate graced the event.
Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi, Prof. S. M. Ajantha Kumara Samarakoon, and Dr. W. A. D. S. Wijetunge from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal and listed among the Top 10%.
Prof. R. M. C. S. Ratnayake and Prof. D. A. D. A. Daranagama from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, and Prof. Gayani Rajapaksa and Ms. W.A. Rashmi Kavindya Wijerathne from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science; and Dr. Pradeep W. Samarasekere from the Centre for Advanced Materials and Smart Manufacturing, Faculty of Computing and Technology, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Priyani Ashoka Paranagama from the Department of Chemistry, Senior Prof. L. D. Amarasinghe and Ms. S. A. Pamudi Tharindra Samaraweera from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Prof. D. A. D. A. Daranagama from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science; Ms. Dilini Nisansala Aruppala from the Department of Accountancy, Faculty Commerce and Management Studies; and Mr. Deshaka Jayakody from the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q2-ranked journal.
Prof. D. M. R. Dissanayake from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Prof. M. K. B. Weerasooriya from the Department of Chemistry and Dr. Wasana de Silva from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science; Dr. Muditha Tissera from the Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology, were recognized with Senate Honours and cash prizes for their research published in Scopus Q3- and Q4-ranked journals.
Dr. Pradeep W. Samarasekere from the Department of Applied Computing, Faculty of Computing and Technology, received Senate Honours for Indexed Book Chapters.
