Another Session of Senate Awards Held on the 25th of June 2026

Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 25th of June 2026 at the Senate Room of the university.
Researchers whose papers were published in internationally recognized journals, were appreciated and the Senate Awards and Cash Prizes were awarded to the researchers by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, the deans of the faculties, heads of the departments, and members of the Senate graced the event.
Prof. K. G. M. Nanayakkara from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Dr Pradeep W. Samarasekere from the Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Manufacturing, Faculty of Computing and Technology; Dr Manoj Jinadasa from the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences; and Mr Jayantha Munasinghe from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal and listed among the Top 10%.
Mr Harshaka Maduwantha Jans from the Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Manufacturing, Faculty of Computing and Technology, and Ms H. K. I. Sewwandi from the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Nimanthi Jayathilaka and Ms S. A. Dinithi Dharitha Sakalasuriya from the Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Vithanage Primali Anuruddhika Weerasinghe from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, Faculty of Science; Prof. Nayana Gunathilaka from the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Manjula Gunarathna from the Department of Social Statistics and Dr H. A. Kumudu Sumedha Sanjeewani from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr G. H. B. A. de Silva from the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Dr H. S. S. M. Jayawardena from the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities; and Ms Sonali Prabodha Vijayarathna from the Center for Advanced Materials and Smart Manufacturing, Faculty of Computing and Technology, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q2-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science; Senior Prof. Lal Mervin Dharmasiri, Ms D. R. A. K. Danasekara, Mr Pasindu Jayathilake, Mr Ranwella K. B. S. I., Ms K. Nishanthi, and Ms R. A. Chesika Kanchana from the Department of Geography; Faculty of Social Sciences; and Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi and Dr H. M. T. S. Herath from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Ms R. K. N. D. Darshani from the Department of Human Resource Management, and Mr H. M. M. N. Herath from the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were recognized with Senate Honours and cash prizes for their research published in Scopus Q3- and Q4-ranked journals.
Dr Wasanthi Subasinghe from the Department of Biochemistry and Clinical Chemistry, Faculty of Medicine, received Senate Honours for Indexed Book Chapters.
Dr Rasika Rajapaksha from the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology, and Dr Hewa Wellalage Basitha Kavinga, Mr Udavith Reshanjana, Ms Dilushika Anton Michael, Ms S. M. D. M. K. Samarakoon, and Ms Gihashi Mandeera Liyanage from the Department of Statistics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours for Scopus-Indexed Conference Full Papers.
