The books entitled Aňduren Eliyaṭa Magak, authored by Professor Nedalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, and Punci Māyākāri, a translation by Lecturer Ashani Shalika Ranasinghe, were officially launched on the 18th of September 2024, at the K14 Auditorium. The event was hosted by the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities.
The Inauguration Ceremony of the Diploma in Sinhala for Tamil Speakers (DSST – 2024) was held by the Department of Sinhala of the University of Kelaniya on the 29th of September 2024, at the Auditorium of the Kotahena Sri Pragnakeerthi Memorial Hall (K14), University of Kelaniya.
H. A. V. Eranga Lakmini Gunasinghe, a third-year Japanese Honours student from the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, secured first place at the 35th Japanese Language Speech Contest, organized by the Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA). The competition was held on the 7th of September 2024, at the Sasakawa Centre in Sri Lanka.
An inspiring Japanese calligraphy workshop, organized by the Japanese Unit of the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, under the theme “A Journey into the Art of Brush and Ink,” was held on the 27th of August 2024, at the university premises.
