Donation Ceremony to Support Myanmar Earthquake Relief Successfully Held at the University of Kelaniya

A special donation ceremony organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on 28th of April 2025 at the department premises.
The department proudly welcomed Her Excellency Mrs. Marlar Than Htaik, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as the special guest for the occasion.
During the ceremony, a formal donation was handed over to the Ambassador on behalf of the Government of Myanmar. This donation was made in solidarity with the people of Myanmar, to support the ongoing earthquake crisis relief efforts. It reflects the deep friendship and shared cultural and religious heritage between Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
The event highlighted the University of Kelaniya’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to humanitarian causes, strengthening international relationships grounded in compassion, empathy, and shared values.
This important event was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Most Ven. Makuruppe Dhammananda Thero, Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, along with the dedicated academic and administrative staff members.
