VACANCY NOTIFICATION - POST OF RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Applications are invited from eligible citizens of Sri Lanka for above-mentioned position dedicated to the Development Oriented Research (DOR) grant of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.

The said DOR grant is funded by World Bank under its Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operation in Sri Lanka. The appointment is a contractual base for three months. The grant will offer a maximum salary of Rs 55,000.00 per month all-inclusive subject to EPF and ETF payment as per the labor law of Sri Lanka. 

Job Profile

Research Assistant shall be required to discharge duties as per Terms of Reference of the position specially designing questionnaires for key informant interviews, communicating with relevant government bodies such as Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, Sri Lanka Police Department, District, and local authorities, conducting key informant interviews, organizing awareness programs, and engaging in related fieldwork require traveling. In addition, the research assistant should support all project-related administrative and logistic work, such as attending necessary meetings.

Required Qualifications and Experience

A special degree in Economics or any related subjects in the field of Social Sciences obtained from a recognized University with Second Lower Class or above.

  • Age below 35 years.
  • Must be fluent in English, computer literate and possess professional skills (Skilled in communication, office etiquette, time management, problem-solving, positive attitude and interpersonal relationships etc.)
  • Work experience in research projects including field works will be an added qualification.
  • Ability and willingness to travel all over the island when required.
