The inaugural newsletter of the Department of Modern Languages, titled “Modern Languages Insights Volume I” was successfully launched on the 24^th of January 2024 at the Vice Chancellor’s Office of the University of Kelaniya. Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the event by officiating the newsletter’s launch.

“Modern Languages Insights” distinguishes itself as a unique and academically rich publication that goes beyond conventional reporting. Encompassing a spectrum of significant academic activities, events, research, and publications, as well as highlighting achievements, scholarships, and job demand for graduates, the newsletter offers a distinctive and in-depth perspective, fostering a deeper understanding of the Department of Modern Languages’ profound impact on both education and professional development.

During the ceremony, Ven. Professor Nedalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, Head of the Department of Modern Languages, clarified the newsletter’s objectives, emphasizing its role in encapsulating the department’s academic endeavors. The Vice-Chancellor commended the department’s efforts in capturing the diverse academic landscape and acknowledged the academic value embedded in the newsletter. The launch ceremony, attended by all members of the Department of Modern Languages, underscores the collaborative spirit embodied in the newsletter, fostering a culture of shared success and continuous academic growth.
