Professor Niroshini Gunasekera of the French Unit of the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya was recently awarded a knighthood by the French Government for the services rendered to France by teaching French language, culture, literature.

Her role as a literary translator of many French literary texts into Sinhala was also recognized.
