Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 10^th of March 2021 at the Boardroom of the Faculty of the Science.

Awards were presented by Senior Prof. S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean- Faculty of Science.

The prime objective of the Long Service Awards and Vice- Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony which is being held annually since 2007, was to appreciate the service of the academic & non- academic staff members during the last year and further encourage them.

Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. Ashoka Pathirathna was awarded a wall plaque for 40 years of Continuous and Meritorious Service. Moreover, Senior Prof. P. A. Paranagama, Senior Prof. S. R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean- Faculty of Science, Senior Prof. N. A. K. P. J. Seneviratne, Department of Chemistry, Senior Prof. W. U. Chandrasekara, Department of Zoology and Environmental Management Biology and Senior Lecturer Dr. N. P. W. B. V. K. Senanayake, Department of Mathematics received Silver Plated Medals and Certificates for 30 years of Continuous and Meritorious Service while Prof. G. A. S. M. Ganehiarachchi, Department of Zoology and Environmental Management Biology, Senior Lecturer Dr. R. C. M. S. Rathnayake, Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Senior Lecturer N. G. A. Karunathilake, Senior Lecturer J. Munasinghe, Department of Mathematics, Senior Lecturer Dr. Ruwan Wickramarachchi,  Department of Industrial Management, Senior Lecturer E. A. A. D. Edirisinghe, Department of Microbiology received Bronze Plated Medals and Certificates for 25 years of Continuous and Meritorious Service.

Senior Prof. Mangalika Hettiarachchi, Prof. L. R. Jayasekara, Prof. Upali S. Amarasinghe, Senior Prof. K. A. K. D. D. D. Jayasuriya and Prof. J. R. P. Jayakody were recognized and awarded as Emeritus Professors. Dr. Dinushani Anupama Daranagama and Prof. Upali S. Amarasinghe were recognized and awarded for being among the Top Ten Researchers in the University of Kelaniya.

Senior Lecturer A. M. C. H. Attanayake, Department of Statistics & Computer Science won the award for the Outstanding Early Career Researchers of the Faculty of Science while Senior Lecturer Dr. U. P. Liyanage, Head- Department of Statistics & Computer Science and Senior Lecturer Dr. K. M. D. C. Jayathilaka of the Department of Physics & Electronics won the second and third places respectively.

Prof. L.D. Amarasinghe, Department of Zoology and Environmental Management won the award for the Outstanding Senior Researcher of the Faculty of Science while Senior Lecturer Dr. C.S.K. Rajapakse and Prof. N. Jayathilaka of the Department of Chemistry won the second and third places respectively.

Senior Prof. N. A. K. P. J. Seneviratne, Department of Chemistry and Senior Lecturer Dr. A. L. A. K. Ranaweera, Department of Physics & Electronics were recognized and awarded as the recipients of the Highest Amount of External Research Grants.

Prof. L.D. Amarasinghe, Department of Zoology and Environmental Management was recognized and awarded as the Researcher with the Highest Number of Publications in Indexed Journal while Prof. N. Jayathilaka, Department of Chemistry was recognized and awarded as the Researcher with the Most Publications from University (Internal) Research Grants in the University.

Senior Prof. N.A.K.P.J. Senevirathna won the award for the Best Innovators/Inventors of the University while Prof. S.R.D. Kalingamudali, Dean- Faculty of Science and Senior Lecturer Dr. A. L. A. K. Ranaweera, Department of Physics & Electronics won the second place respectively.

Senior Prof. S.R.D. Kalingamudali, Dean- Faculty of Science, awardees and other faculty staff members were among the participants of this special ceremony.
