'Indrabhivandana' Launched

The launching ceremony of the 'Indrabhivandana' Felicitation Volume compiled in honor of Prof. Indra Dassanayake, former Head of the Department of Hindi Studies, University of Kelaniya was held on the 18th of 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.
It was organized by the Department of Hindi Studies, University of Kelaniya.
Prof. Indra Dassanayake was the first Professor for Hindi in Sri Lanka and she was the pioneer to introduce Hindi for school and university education.
Eight felicitation articles and thirty-six research articles written in Sinhala, English and Hindi languages are included in the 'Indrabhivandana' Felicitation Volume.
The keynote address of the event was delivered by retired Prof. Mangalika Jayathunga, Visual Arts and Design and Performing Arts Unit, Department of Fine Arts.
Present at the occasion were Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, Secretary- Patriotic Bhikku Front, renowned artists Sathishchandra Edirisinghe & Upuli Paneebharatha, Mrs. Rajashree Behera, Director- Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Mrs. Monica Sharma, Hindi Chair- Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.
