The Faculty of Computing and Technology at the University of Kelaniya seeks a highly motivated research assistant to join the "Low-cost Personalized Cardiovascular Disease Monitoring and Risk Forecasting System based on Machine Learning of Non-Invasively Measured Biomarkers”" project.

The project aims to develop a wearable system for risk prediction of CVD events. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, experienced in completing hands-on projects, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature reviews on rare earth extraction methods
  • Self-study and gain skills in specialized areas related to the research project.
  • Design and testing of embedded systems for machine learning applications.
  • Recruit and monitor human subjects for data collection.
  • Analyze data and contribute to the interpretation of results

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or Engineering Technology in the fields of electronics, mechatronics or industrial automation and robotics.
  • Hands-on experience in developing embedded systems-based projects using microcontrollers such ARM and ESP32 is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in machine learning libraries such as Tensorflow is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Python-based libraries for data analysis, data preparation and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Contract Duration:

This is a full-time position and initially, the appointment will be made for a period of 12 months and may be renewed based on performance during the period of the relevant research project. 

 

Allowance:

A monthly allowance of LKR 60,000.00 will be paid for Research Assistants registered for M. Phil. Degree program or LKR 50,000.00 will be paid for Research Assistants not registered for a postgraduate degree program, subject to satisfactory performance. Payments will be made upon submission of the time sheet and attendance with the recommendation of the Principal Investigator and approval of the Deputy Project Director.
