The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya took another step forward during this pandemic by introducing the first ever Virtual Career Fair of the University history.
The Career Fair is a flagship event organized by the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya to provide a platform for the undergraduates to explore career opportunities in the corporate world. Career Fair 2021 was a nurturing journey that provided in-depth knowledge, expertise and insight for the university undergraduates with employment and internship opportunities from a broad range of companies. The event acquired more than 1200 registrations and partnered with 25 companies generating more than 130 vacancies making it a gifted opportunity for undergraduates stepping into the corporate world.
The inauguration ceremony was held on 20th of May through Zoom. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Chief guest Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Kelaniya and the Keynote Speaker Dr. Ajith Medis, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing Management, and Head of the Centre for Advanced Marketing of University of Kelaniya.
Career Fair 2021 was also enriched with a Career Development Workshop series encompassing a wide range of topics and two sessions held by AHEAD project by FCMS .The highlight of this series was the panel discussion that was held with the participation of Ms. Kasturi Chellaraja, Mr.Lalith Bandara and Mr.Vidusha Nathavitharana under the title “The Future Of Work For Undergraduates”. The Career Fair magazine was another spearheading journey that was taken while organizing the Career Fair and it was launched during the inauguration ceremony.
Career Fair 2021 was led and mentored by the Director of the Career Guidance Unit Prof. Dilkushi Wattewe and Mr. Thilina Karunanayake ,Senior Lecturer, Career Counselor of University of Kelaniya and the Chairperson of Career Fair 2021. Organizing Committee of the Career Fair 2021 was head by Secretary Ms. Rashmi Ranasinghe and Co-chairs Mr. Kisal Ekanayake, Mr. Lahiru Vimukthi, Mr. Chethiya Galkaduwa, Mr. Navod Dunusinghe, Treasurer Mr. Malith Kavinda, Chief Coordinator Ms. Sakuni Thilakarathne and Chief Editor Ms. Mandakini Aththanayake. Career Fair 2021 partnered with Brandix Apparel Limited as the platinum sponsor and other sponsor included SMS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Unilever Sri Lanka and John Keells Holdings PLC.
