A pre-conference workshop on ‘Research Methods in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning’ for the academic staff of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 30^th of December 2022

at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre of the University. The workshop was organized by the Staff Development Centre of the University of Kelaniya.

The main objective of this workshop was to encourage higher educational research among academic staff to improve the quality of university teaching and learning through systematic inquiry.

Cadre Chair and Prof. Madawa Chandratilake, Head - Department of Medical Education - Faculty of Medicine conducted the first session of the workshop on 'Selecting research designs for research on teaching and learning'. The second session of the workshop was conducted by Prof. Anuradhani Kasthuriratne, Department of Public Health - Faculty of Medicine on ‘Quantitative research methods for research on teaching and learning'. The third discussion on ‘Qualitative research methods for research on teaching and learning' was conducted by Dr. Pavithra Godamunne - Director of the Staff Development Centre.

Selected members of the academic staff representing all faculties and departments of the university participated in this workshop.
