A certificate awarding ceremony for Peer Counselors Batch 01 was held on the 25^th of August 2023 from 10:00 a.m. onwards at the auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.

In addition to the event, the Kalana Mithuru Sevana celebrated its 25^th anniversary which started the centre in 1998. Further, on the same day the inauguration ceremony of Peer Counselor Batch 02 also took place.

The objectives of the event are to enhance students about peer counseling program and to avoid mental-related problems via training the students.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Professor Mrs. M. Hettiarachchi were the chief guests of the event. Emeritus Prof. Mangalika Hettiarachchi (Former Director and Founder of the Kalana Mithuru Sevana) enhanced the event as the keynote speaker.

The event was graced by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Deans of the University of Kelaniya, Dr. Anusha Salwathura, Director of the Kalana Mithuru Sevana, Emeritus Prof. Mangalika Hettiarchchi (Former Director and Founder of the Kalana Mithuru Sevana), Prof. Suseema Weligamage, Former Director of the Kalana Mithuru Sevana, Mrs. Bimali Wijesundara, Former Director of the Kalana Mithuru Sevana, Asst. Prof. Sarath Chadrasekera, and Kalana Mithuru Counselors, Academics, and Undergraduates participated in the event.
