Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya hosted a meeting of the university’s top researchers to discuss the future trajectory of research and innovation at the University of Kelaniya on the 4^th of March 2024. The discussion focused on strategic planning to enhance the quality of research at the university. The session was attended by the Registrar, Deans, and other university officials.

The proceedings were moderated by Professor Sachith Mettananda, Chairman of the Research Council. The Vice-Chancellor, in her opening remarks, presented an overview of the university’s research and scholarly output over the past 5 years. The quality of research was scrutinized to identify areas for improvement. Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, Chairman of the Ranking Committee, explored publication trends and Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science, highlighted some innovations from the university. This was followed by an open discussion.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing research excellence, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and nurturing a culture of innovation at the University of Kelaniya.
