The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the seventh cycle of the Sustainability Leadership Training Programme (SLTP) was held on the 30^th of July 2024, at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya. The event was organized by the Centre for Sustainability Studies (CSS) of the University of Kelaniya.

The SLTP is an annual certificate course offered by the CSS to equip undergraduates with knowledge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program also aims to cultivate a sense of volunteerism and environmental stewardship among participants.

During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to a total of 28 undergraduates.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, congratulated the students on their accomplishments and encouraged them to actively contribute to combating climate change and raising awareness about the UN SDGs. Dr. Wasanthi Subasinghe, Director of the CSS, emphasized the crucial role of sustainability education in developing future leaders while welcoming attendees. Dr. Pansujee Dissanayaka, SLTP Coordinator and Deputy Director of CSS, outlined the SLTP program. 

Mr. Sayuru Jayasekara, an undergraduate from the Faculty of Science, shared his experiences from JENESYS (Japan SAARC Network Program of People-to-People Exchange) - 3rd Batch: "Environment," which he received through SLTP.

The event was also graced by the esteemed guests, including Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University of Kelaniya; and other academic and administrative staff members.
