Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha was appointed as the Director of the Communication and Media Unit for the 2^nd consecutive time. The appointment letter was handed over to the Director by the Cadre Chair & Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 9^th of October 2024, at the Vice-chancellor’s Office.

During his first tenure as the Director of the Communication and Media Unit from 2021 to 2024, Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha delivered an impressive service to significantly enhance the unit's operations and services. It is noteworthy that Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award in two consecutive years as the Successful Director, during his first tenure, to appreciate his commendable service towards the success of the Unit.

Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha completed his Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree in Mass Communication and the Degree of Master of Philosophy from the University of Kelaniya. His research interests include Buddhist Communication and Asian Religions Study, Cultural and Language Communication Study, Media Research, and Print and Broadcasting Media.

He actively participates in many radio and television programmes as a resource person. He is an eminent figure in “Dumbara Pädura” by Lak FM. His continuous contribution to newspapers in article writing related to Mass Communication is highly appreciated by readers.
