A one-day Media Workshop, organized by the Communication and Media Unit, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on June 4, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre, University of Kelaniya. Conducted under the theme “Effective Language Usage and Creative Writing,” this workshop was held in parallel with the “The Art” program of the Vidulakara TV  YouTube channel.

Held under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha, Director of the Communication and Media Unit, the event was aimed at enhancing the communication skills and competencies of the students of the University of Kelaniya. A notable feature of the series was that it was open to undergraduates from all the faculties of the University of Kelaniya, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

During the workshop, two sessions were conducted by Senior Journalist (Ms) Manoli Subasinghe, Chief Editor, Tharuni Newspaper, and Senior Journalist (Mr) Indrajith Subasinghe, Sports Editor and Features Editor, Aruna Newspaper.

Accordingly, the staff of the Communication and Media Unit and undergraduates of the Department of Mass Communication, attended the event, contributing to its success.
