The Staff Development Centre (SDC) of the University of Kelaniya successfully conducted a workshop on the “Pilot Study on AI Awareness Course” for Administrative Officers on 19 June 2026 at the Faculty of Computing and Technology of the University.

The workshop was attended by 30 Administrative Officers representing various administrative divisions of the University. The program aimed to enhance participants’ awareness and understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), its applications, and its potential impact on administrative functions within higher education institutions.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar, and Mrs M. M. N. T. K. Yalagama, Acting Registrar, whose participation highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering digital literacy and innovation among its administrative staff.

The resource person for the workshop was Dr Chathura Rajapakse, Senior Lecturer, Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. Through his expert guidance, engaging presentations, and practical insights, participants gained valuable knowledge on AI concepts, emerging trends, and the effective use of AI tools in administrative and professional contexts.

The workshop was highly informative and interactive, contributing significantly to enhancing the participants’ awareness and capacity in the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence.
