07th lecture of the lecture series on heritage studies organized by the Centre for Heritage Studies of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of November 2018 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. The lecture was held with the objective of commemorating the great heroes on behalf of bicentennial celebration of 1818 rebellion.

Senior Prof. Anura Manathunga, Director- Centre for Heritage Studies conducted the lecture emphasizing on the service rendered by the natives including the Monarawila Keppetipola associating information mentioned in classics and folk tales.

Moreover, “Walapane Satana” short film by Munidasa Punchihewa was also screened at the programme.

An Aloka Pooja of 200 oil lamps was conducted under the patronage of Senior Lecturer Ven. Dr. Kapugollewe Anandakitti Thero, Chief Student Counsellor.

Senior Lecturer Dr. Mangala Katugampola, Head- Department of Archaeology, Prof. Malinga Amarasinghe including the academic staff members, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar and undergraduates graced the event.
