Annual Board Meeting of the Confucius institute, University of Kelaniya was held on the 11^th of December 2018 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Humanities. The objective of this meeting was to summarize the annual progress of the Confucius Institute of the University.

Prof. Zhou Zenyang, President- Chogquing Normal University, Mr. Lei Yong, Director of Confucius Institute Management Office, Prof. Guan Pin, Director of Office for International Exchanges graced the occasion representing Chogquing Normal University- China, which is a partner university of the Confucius Institute of the University of Kelaniya.

Moreover, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Senior Lecturer Kumari Jayasooriya, Director- Confucius Institute, Prof. Wanng Wanxia, Co- Director, Confucius Institute, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilrukshi Rathnayake, Head- Department of Modern Languages, academic staff members, Mr. W.M. Karunarathne, Registrar and non- academic staff members participated in the discussion representing the University of Kelaniya.

Further, Initial discussions were held between Ven. Dr. Malwane Chandrarathana Thero, Head- Department of Sinhala and the delegation, on the arrangements to teach Sinhala language as a foreign language at Chogquing Normal University.
