G.C.E. (A/L) Teachers’ Training Program Held at the University of Kelaniya

The Department of Accountancy (DoA), University of Kelaniya, successfully conducted a training program for the Advanced Level (A/L) Commerce stream teachers on 20th June 2025 at the Auditorium, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, with the participation of 250 teachers from across the country.
This training program aimed to enhance the teaching capacities and subject knowledge of A/L teachers specialising in Accounting. This initiative was designed to equip teachers with modern pedagogical techniques, and subject-specific expertise, ultimately benefiting students and the broader community.
The resource personnel of the program were, Senior Prof. Samanthi Senaratne from the Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayawardenapura, and Prof. Amila Munasinghe, Dr. Anura Karunarathne, Dr. Mudith Sujeewa, Senior Lecturer (Mr.) Malintha Perera, Senior Lecturer (Mr.) Pubudu Kaushalya, Lecturer (Mr.) Ashen Rajapaksha, Lecturer (Mr.) Viraj Weerawickrama, Lecturer (Mr.) Himal Muthunyake, and Lecturer (Probationary) (Mr.) Lalitha Silva from the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya. The main coordinators of the event were Dr. Anura Karunaratne and Lecturer (Ms.) Shashikala Wijerathna.
The Gold Sponsor of the event was the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), while People's Leasing & Finance PLC served as the Official Material Printing Partner. The Higher Diploma in Business Accounting (HDBA) also joined as a valued sponsor.
The event was graced by the presence of Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, who attended as the Chief Guest, along with other distinguished invitees including Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Prof. Amila Munasinghe, Head of the Department of Accountancy; professors and lecturers of the department; and representatives from the sponsor organizations.
