Strengthening Financial Literacy through Partnership

The Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya, signed a landmark MoU with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) on July 3, 2025, at CBSL, aiming to collaboratively promote financial literacy across the country.
This partnership will pave the way for joint workshops, seminars, online courses, and community outreach programs focused on building essential financial knowledge and encouraging sound financial habits.
The MoU was exchanged by Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Also present at this significant milestone were Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Prof. Ruwani Fernando, Head of the Department of Finance; Dr. Chathura Liyanage; Ms. Denumini Dawalagala; and Ms. Nilanka Chamindani, each contributing to this important step toward a financially empowered Sri Lanka.
