Senior Lecturer Dr Ruwan Wijesinghe officially assumed duties as the Head of the Department of Finance, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. The letter of appointment was handed over by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on 10 June 2026 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

To mark the commencement of his tenure, a religious observance featuring Pirith chanting and blessings was conducted by Ven. Deniyaye Pannaloka Thero, Ven. Walapane Gnanasena Thero, and Ven. Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero at the Department of Finance. The occasion was attended by Dr S. C. Thushara, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, former Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; and the Heads of Departments, along with academic, administrative, academic-support, and non-academic staff members of the Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya.

With over fifteen years of experience as an academic in Sri Lanka, Dr Wijesinghe serves as a Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Finance, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. He graduated with a BBMgt (Hons) in Finance (First-Class) in 2011 at the University of Kelaniya. He subsequently completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Colombo. Demonstrating a strong professional foundation, he successfully completed the Chartered Accountancy examinations at CA Sri Lanka in 2014. He has also completed his doctoral studies in New Zealand and is currently awaiting the conferment of his PhD.
