The University of Kelaniya Signs MoU with TRACE

The University of Kelaniya formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TRACE - a leading organization fostering innovation, technological advancement, and entrepreneurial growth across multiple disciplines, on 24th November 2025, marking a key milestone in fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Kusal Subasinghe, President of TRACE, and Snr. Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
The signing ceremony was held at the Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT) and was attended by distinguished delegates from TRACE, including Dr. Sankalpa Gamwarige, Senior Vice President / Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Heminda Jayaweera, Vice President / Executive Director. Representatives from the University of Kelaniya included Prof. Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar; Dr. Pradeep Samarasekere, Director of the Industry Interaction Cell for Computing and Technology; Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, former Dean of FCT; Ms. Chandrika Godage, Deputy Registrar of FCT, together with department heads and academic staff members.
This MoU is intended to promote entrepreneurship among students and faculty, encourage creativity and innovation within the University, empower co-working spaces to support startups in the region, and support the establishment of a Technopreneur and Innovation development programs in the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya.
This strategic collaboration is expected to create new avenues for academic advancement, research innovation, entrepreneurial development, and industry engagement, thereby contributing significantly to the growth of the University and the wider academic and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
