The panel discussions of the 7th International Conference on the Humanities (ICH) 2025, organized by the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, were held on Friday, 19 December 2025, at the Ven. Prof. Kotahene Sri Pragnakeerthi Thero Memorial Hall (K14).

The day featured two panel discussions. The first panel discussion included three panelists: Professor Rohan Nethsinghe, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Visual and Performing Arts; Ven. Dr Jambugahapitiye Dhammaloka Thero, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Classical Languages, University of Peradeniya; and Dr Maduranga Kalugampitiya, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of English, University of Peradeniya. The session was moderated by Mr Buddhika Jayasundara, Senior Lecturer, Department of Sinhala, University of Kelaniya.

The second panel discussion included Professor Chithra Jayathilake, Professor in English, Department of English and Linguistics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Dr Shashikala Assella, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of English, University of Kelaniya; Dr Dinali Devendra, Senior Lecturer, Department of Language Studies, The Open University of Sri Lanka; and Dr Esther Surenthiraraj, Senior Lecturer, Department of English, University of Colombo. The discussion was moderated by Ms Dinali Fernando, Senior Lecturer, Department of English, University of Kelaniya.

In addition to the panel discussions, the day also featured sessions conducted under the themes Cultural Values and Identity, Educational Values in Humanities, New Frontiers in Humanities Research, and Reconciliation in the Humanities.

Further, the event was graced by the presence of Dr Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Heads of Departments; academic staff members of the Faculty; and the presenters.
