Academic Book Collection Donated to the Department of International Studies

In a gesture that reflects a deep commitment to advancing higher education and scholarly inquiry, a valuable collection of academic books was ceremonially donated to the Department of International Studies at the University of Kelaniya on 5th February 2026 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office of the University. The book donation was symbolically handed over by Mr Gunapala Madurawala to Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, marking a significant moment of intellectual enrichment for the department.

The donated collection includes important works related to Foreign Policy, International Political Economy, International Law, South Asian Politics, and Foreign Investments—fields that form the core of contemporary international studies and global political analysis.

This generous initiative was facilitated by Prof. Rev. Induragare Dhammarathana Thero from the Department of Sanskrit Studies, whose efforts helped bring together this meaningful academic contribution.

The event was graced by the presence of Professor M. M. Gunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Senior Lecturer Ven.Udawala Rewatha Thero, Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies; Senior Lecturer Yamuna Mendis, Head of the Department of International Studies; and Professor Chaminda Abeysinghe, along with lecturers from the department and other distinguished invitees.

The occasion symbolized not only the strengthening of academic resources but also the spirit of collaboration and support that sustains higher education. The donated volumes are expected to significantly benefit undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as researchers engaged in the dynamic study of international affairs.

Such contributions continue to inspire a culture of knowledge sharing and academic growth within the university community.
