Vāstu Expo – 2026 Successfully Held at the University of Kelaniya

The 'Vāstu Expo – 2026' exhibition, organized by the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on 13 and 14 July 2026 at the Art Gallery of the Faculty of Humanities, following a brief inaugural ceremony.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Senior Professor Patrick Ratnayake, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Professor Chaminda Abeysinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; and Ms Roshini Thomson, First Secretary (PIC) of the High Commission of India, Colombo, and the Acting Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the second volume of the 'Ālaya' Academic Journal.

The exhibition was organized with the aim of exposing the research and innovative designs of the undergraduates of Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Vāstuśāstra degree program. Bringing together the classical knowledge of Vāstuśāstra and modern creative approaches, the exhibition showcased students' research, creative works, models, and architectural concepts. It provided a valuable platform to present the academic achievements, creativity, and innovative perspectives of the students to the wider public.

Ven. Dr Udawela Rewatha Thero, Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies, together with the academic staff of the Department; Directors of the Units and Centres; and students of the University, also attended the event.
