Kelaniya English Literary Festival 2018

KELF 2018 (Kelaniya English Literary Festival) organized by the Department of English, University of Kelaniya was held on the 04th of December 2018 at the Kotahena Sri Pragnakeerthi Memorial Hall. The festival was organized with the objective of celebrating life and work of late Chair Professor Manique Gunesekera.
The event also featured a panel discussion on “creativity and publishing in contemporary Sri Lankan English writing” with writers Vivimarie VanderPoorten, Nayomi Munaweera, and Ameena Hussein. The main speaker of this session was Professor Carmen Wickramagamage of the University of Peradeniya
Moreover, the workshops conducted for Ordinary Level and Advanced Level students, scrabble competition, quiz session titled ‘Literary Labyrinth’ and stalls were the highlights of the festival.
The Department of English collaborated with the Department of English Language Teaching and the Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit to organise KELF 2018 activities. Present at the occasion were Senior Lecturer Dinali Fernando, Head- Department of English, Prof. Maithree Wickramasinghe, Heads of Departments, academic staff members and undergraduates.
