IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Programme Session Held at the University of Kelaniya

A session of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Distinguished Lecturer Programme, jointly organized by the Department of Physics and Electronics, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter at the University of Kelaniya,
and the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Sri Lanka Chapter, was held on the 19th of November 2024 at the Auditorium of the Department of Industrial Management, University of Kelaniya.
The lecturer programme was held as part of the global celebrations for IEEE Industrial Electronics Day, officially observed on the 14th of November. This initiative aimed at providing collaborating and networking opportunities for the students.
The occasion was graced by Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, as the Chief Guest.
The session featured insightful and interactive presentations by Professor Dmitri Vinnikov and Professor Andrii Chub from Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia. Both are renowned scholars in the field of power electronics within the IEEE community.
The IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Programme was a prestigious initiative that brought cutting-edge knowledge from leading experts in various IEEE fields to its members. It served as a platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation in engineering, technology, and science.
The event also witnessed the participation of Mr. Kavinga Upul Ekanayaka, Chair of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Sri Lanka Chapter; members of the academic staff; and postgraduate and undergraduate students.
