Dr. Chathuri Senanayake won 3- Minute Research Presentation Competition at the 2nd SLAYS Open Forum

Dr. Chathurika Senanayake won the championship at the “3-minute research presentation competition-3MT” of the 2nd SLAYS open forum organized by Sri Lanka Academy of Young Scientists (SLAYS) and National Science Foundation (NSF) of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Coordinating Secretariat for Science and Technology and Innovation (COSTI).
Dr. Chathuri Senanayake, is a PhD graduate from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya and a section of her PhD research on “Effects of plant-based extracts to stabilize and improve the nutritional quality of selected foods” was presented at the open forum. Her research was supervised by Senior Prof. Kapila Seneviratne and Prof. Nimanthi Jayathilaka of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya.
Initially, more than 100 applicants from various scientific disciplines participated in the competition and 10 finalists were selected out of the 40 semifinalists to present at the open forum and only those 10 finalists presented their researches at the the “3-minute research presentation competition-3MT” of the 2nd SLAYS open forum themed “Research for Impact- March of the Sri Lankan Young Scientists”. Other than the trophy, Dr. Chathurika Senanayake received an award of 1000 USD at the “3-minute research presentation competition-3MT”.
This event which was supported by the University of Queensland, Australia was held on 04th and 05th October 2018 at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo.
