International Research Symposium on Pure and Applied Sciences – IRSPAS 2018

 The International Research Symposium on Pure and Applied Sciences- IRSPAS 2018 organized by the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of September 2018 at the premises of the Faculty of Science. This symposium which has been organized with the objective of publishing the findings of locally and internationally recognized scientific researches, was held for the third time.

Prof. Edward L. Webb, the National University of Singapore delivered the keynote speech of this symposium which was organized under the theme, “Advancements of Multidisciplinary Scientific Research towards Sustainable Development”. He delivered his speech under the theme, “Diversity is our Strength: why multidisciplinarity and internationality improve science”. Prof. Ananda Jayawardhana, Director General- National Science Foundation also conducted a special lecture at the symposium.

More than 194 research papers were presented under the four sessions: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Multidisciplinary Research, Software Intensive Systems and the researchers from USA, Portugal, India and Malaysia also took part in the symposium.

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of University of Kelaniya. Prof. B.M. Jayawardhana, Dean- Faculty of Science, Prof. Ariyarathna Jayamaha, Dean- Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Cadre Chair and Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil Chandra, Chairman- Research Council, Prof. L.D. Amarasinghe, Heads of Departments and the academic staff members and students graced the event
