Senior Lecturer Dr. P.L.S. Peter was appointed as the new Head of the Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. The appointment letter was handed over to the Head by the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. D.M. Semasinghe on the 13^th of May 2019 at the Vice- Chancellor’s Office.

Present at the occasion were Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor, academic staff members of the Department of Industrial Management and Ms. Dhammika Ambegoda, Assistant Registrar- Academic Establishment Division.

Dr. P.L.S. Peter obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kelaniya and his doctorate & the Master of Philosophy degree from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands. He also obtained a Master of Science in Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

As a university academic, he has over eighteen years of teaching, research and consulting experience and has served as the Head of the Department of Industrial Management between 2001 and 2003. He has served as a National Consultant on a number of projects for UNIDO and UNDP and been involved in consulting with a number of international development organizations, government and local private sector companies. He is also a member of Board of Directors of several private companies.

Privatization, Investments, Enterprise Restructuring, Corporate Finance and Decision Support Systems for Small and Medium scale Enterprises are his research interests while Performance of Initial Public Offerings and Privatized Offers, Growth Prospects for the Software Industry in Sri Lanka and an Appropriate Policy Framework, Opportunities for Capitalizing on the Software Industry Growth through Appropriate Manpower Training are some of his publications.
