International Research Symposium on Pure & Applied Sciences 2019

International Research Symposium on Pure & Applied Sciences (IRSPAS) organized by Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya held on 25th of October 2019 in Science Faculty premises.  

“Technovation: Inspiring the Next Generation of Technology Entrepreneurs” was the theme of the symposium which was organized in an interdisciplinary manner in order to entertain abstracts based on scientific research relevant to the theme under four technical sessions; Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Software Intensive Systems and Multidisciplinary Research.

Prof. Sivalingam Sivanadan, University of Illinois USA & Dr. Anton Hyder, Director, Scientific Research, Hackers & Foundation, USA delivered the keynote speeches of the conference while & Prof. Rangika Halwathura, Commissioner, Sri Lanka Inventors Commission are delivered special guest lectures.

The event was graced by Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. Moreover, Prof. B.M. Jayawardhane, Dean- Faculty of Science, Prof. Ariyarathne Jayamaha, Dean- Faculty of Graduate Studies, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Postgraduate Institutes, Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities, Senior Lecturer Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil- Chandra, Chairman- Research Council, Senior Lecture Dr. Rangika Bandara, Coordinator, IRSPAS, Senior Lecturer Dr. M.P. Deeyamulla, Director, UBL Cell academic staff members, undergraduates and researchers were present at the occasion.

There was a special media discussion on the same day with the participation of all the honorable guests at B1 212 hall to introduce innovations manufactured by undergraduates. The main objective of this discussion was to talk about the reduction of green gas emission as it causes for the alarming global warming today.
