The inauguration ceremony of the 05^th batch of Diploma in Counselling offered by the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya was held on the 29^th of August 2020 at Dharmaloka Hall.

The keynote speech of the ceremony was delivered by Dr. Indika Mudalige, Medical Specialist in Psychiatry & Senior Lecturer, Department of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. Prof. M.M. Gunathilaka, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya participated to the event as the chief guest. Dr. Kanthi Hettigoda, Leftinen Commander & Clinical Psychologist, Mr. Susil Premarathna, Wing Commander & Clinical Psychologist, Mrs. Saradika Thennakoon, Clinical Psychologist & Mr. Sunil Solanga Arachchi, Director- School Counselling Unit, National Institute of Education participated to the event as external resource persons. Moreover, Senior Lecturer Dr. A.G. Amarasinghe, Head- Department of Geography, Senior Lecturer D.D.R. de Silva, Head- Department of Philosophy, Prof. Gamini Hapuarachchi, Senior Lecturer Dr. N.G.D. Gayantha, Coordinator- Diploma in Counselling & other academic staff members of Department of Philosophy & newly enrolled students also attended the event.
