International Conference on Social Sciences- ICSS organized for the fourth consecutive time by the Research Centre of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 13th and 14th of December 2018 at the premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The prime objectives of the conference themed “Asia in Search of New Global Order in 21st Century”, were to establish new research culture and improve research skills of the undergraduates.
Around 101 research papers relevant to the fields of Economics Trade & Regional Cooperation, Heritage Culture & Tourism, Mass Media, Communication, Information Management & Technology, Reconciliation & National Development were presented at the conference.
Prof. C.M. Madduma Bandara, Former Vice- Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya delivered the keynote speech themed “Sri Lanka in Search of its Position in the Emerging Asian Geo- Political Setting”.
The inauguration of the conference which was held on the 13th of December at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was graced by Prof. A.H.M.H. Abeyrathne, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. N.P. Sunil- Chandra, Chairman- Research Council, Senior Lecturer Dr. M.G. Kularathne, Director- Research Centre (Faculty of Social Sciences), Senior Lecturer Dr. Osantha Thalpawila, Conference Chair, Heads of Departments, academic staff members and undergraduates.
