In response to a request made to the Kalaniya University Alumni Association Australia (KUAA) for a contribution to purchase a digital hearing aid

for Mr. Pramuditha Dilshan, an undergraduate of the Faculty of Humanities, KUAA has donated a hearing aid kit that costs over half a million in Sri Lankan Rupees. The kit will optimize the hearing and speech which will help to carry out Pramuditha’s academic and daily living activities independently.

The hearing aid was handed over by Mr. Rohan Withanaarachchi, the current president of KUAA, at the presence of Dr. Narada Fernando, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Dr. Thilini Lokubalasuriya, the Director of the Coordinating Centre for the Students with Disabilities (CCSD) to Mr. Pramuditha on 2nd of March 2022 at a small function held at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya.

KUAA and University of Kelaniya have signed an MOU to support students with disabilities in the university back in 2018 as a part of the 10th Anniversary of KUAA. From 2018, the disability support scheme has supported 6 students with disabilities who have impairments in vision, hearing and mobility.

KUAA is one of the largest Kelaniya University Alumni Associations operating outside Sri Lanka. Over the last 14 years, KUAA joined hands with many charitable activities in Sri Lanka and in Australia.
