ELZIAN AGRO’s Pest Prediction System (Version 2) received a Merit award at the National Ingenuity Awards for the Best Innovative Product/ Project - University.

The ceremony was organized by SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies), which is the national chamber for the IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka. The National Ingenuity Awards serves to celebrate and felicitate the strides made in technology and innovation by the island nation’s tech and start-up industries; providing Sri Lanka’s rich talent pool with a stage to showcase their brilliance. The Award Ceremony was held at Shangri-La, Colombo on the 1st of July 2022.

Pankajan Satkunam, the Chief Operations Officer & Director at ELZIAN AGRO, who is an undergraduate of the University of Kelaniya, accepted the award representing the whole team. The project ELZIAN AGRO’s Pest Prediction System (Version 2) was developed by 24 undergraduate interns representing the University of Kelaniya, University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Ruhuna, Wayamba University, Uva Wellassa University, Sabaragamuwa University, Marwadi University, Vellore Institute of Technology and Lund University while a majority of these undergraduates were from the University of Kelaniya. This project was the next phase of ELZIAN AGRO’s Pest Prediction System (Version 1) that won the global first-runner-up in the Ericsson Innovation Awards back in 2020.

Also, the majority of the leaders who led the project represented the University of Kelaniya. They are Pankajan Satkunam, Madusha Bandara and Zaki M. T. A. The University played a major role in the formation of ELZIAN AGRO PVT LTD, while all the members of the director board are also products of the University of Kelaniya.
